Instantly vs Lemlist

Instantly vs Lemlist

Instantly and Lemlist are two of the most widely used cold outreach platforms, and they are often shortlisted together. They solve the same problem in different ways. Instantly is built around sending volume: connect as many mailboxes as you like and pay for the number of contacts and emails. Lemlist is built around the individual seller: each user gets a personal, multichannel sequence that mixes email with LinkedIn, calls and messaging.

Which one is right depends less on features than on how your outbound motion works. This comparison covers pricing, strengths, and the deliverability implications of each model.

At a glance

  • Instantly is best for teams and agencies running high-volume email across many mailboxes. Outreach plans start at $47 a month with unlimited email accounts and unlimited warm-up.
  • Lemlist is best for sales reps who want personalized, multichannel sequences. The Email plan lists at $69 per user a month, and the Multichannel plan at $109 per user a month, with lower rates on annual billing.

Where Instantly is strong

Instantly's pricing does not charge per mailbox or per seat. Every outreach plan includes unlimited email accounts and unlimited warm-up, and the tiers differ by contacts and monthly emails: 1,000 contacts and 5,000 emails on Growth, 25,000 contacts and 125,000 emails on Hypergrowth at $97 a month, and 100,000 contacts and 500,000 emails on Light Speed at $358 a month.

That structure suits the modern cold email setup, where volume is spread thinly across dozens of mailboxes and several domains. Inbox rotation, a unified inbox for replies and a large warm-up network are all part of the core product. Instantly also sells a B2B lead database and a CRM, but the lead database is priced separately through credit plans, so the headline price does not include prospect data.

Where Lemlist is strong

Lemlist's strength is the quality of each touch. Sequences can combine email, LinkedIn visits and messages, calls and SMS, with conditions that change the path depending on how the prospect responds. Personalization goes beyond merge fields, with custom images, dynamic landing pages and AI-written variables.

The Email plan covers email only and includes 50,000 emails a month. The Multichannel plan adds LinkedIn automation, SMS, a built-in dialer and a WhatsApp add-on, and allows five sending addresses per user. Both include lemwarm, Lemlist's warm-up and deliverability tool, and access to a lead database of more than 650 million contacts.

Key differences

  • Pricing model. Instantly charges by volume, with no seat fee. Lemlist charges per user. A ten-person team pays very different amounts on each.
  • Channels. Instantly is email-first. Lemlist treats LinkedIn, calls and SMS as equal parts of a sequence on its Multichannel plan.
  • Mailbox scale. Instantly allows unlimited sending accounts on every plan. Lemlist's Multichannel plan sets five senders per user.
  • Personalization. Lemlist offers deeper creative personalization. Instantly focuses on spintax, variables and AI-assisted copy at scale.
  • Lead data. Both offer a database. Instantly bills it separately as credits. Lemlist bundles access and sells enrichment credits as an add-on.

Deliverability notes

Neither platform can deliver mail that your domain setup does not support. Both rely on mailboxes you connect, usually Google Workspace or Microsoft 365, so SPF, DKIM, DMARC, domain age and per-mailbox volume matter more than the tool.

Instantly's model encourages many mailboxes. That works well when each one sends a modest daily volume, and badly when unlimited accounts are treated as permission to blast. Lemlist's lower mailbox counts and slower, more personal sequences naturally produce fewer complaints, but will not reach the same raw volume.

Which should you choose?

  • Choose Instantly if you run email-led outbound at scale, manage many mailboxes or client accounts, and want predictable pricing that does not grow with headcount.
  • Choose Lemlist if your reps work smaller, higher-value prospect lists and need LinkedIn and calls in the same sequence.

Many teams end up using one for volume and the other for strategic accounts. Whichever you pick, set up authentication and warm the mailboxes before the first campaign.
